Meet our Staff
John Stone serves as President and CEO of the Alabama Association of Nonprofits. A native of Tallahasee, Florida, John brings more than 10 years of nonprofit, corporate and political experience to the position. Prior to joining the Alabama Association of Nonprofits, John served as director of community development for Children’s Hospital of Alabama for more than 5 years. Previous positions also included director of education, workforce and community development for the Birmingham Business Alliance (formally Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce) as well as communications and legislative positions for members of both the U.S. Senate and House in Washington, DC. He has chaired and served on the boards of many nonprofit organizations during his time in Birmingham. John is married to Molly Dobson Stone, director of student affairs for Association member Restoration Academy in Fairfield, Alabama. They have three daughters and live in Birmingham.

Erin Tumlin serves as Assistant Director – Administration of the Alabama Association of Nonprofits. Prior to joining the Association in 2002, Erin worked as a field auditor for the State of Alabama. She is a graduate of Jacksonville State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, and also holds an Associate Degree in Business Administration. She and her husband Bobby have one son.

Russell Jackson, longtime nonprofit executive, serves the Association as Director of Member Services. Russell has more than 17 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. Russell is a former Hoover, Alabama firefighter and founder of Kid One Transport, a nonprofit organization in Alabama that has transported over 16,000 medically-ill children to doctors and hospitals across the state. He is also the founder of Partners For A Cause, an innovative rewards program benefiting charities and schools. The nonprofit sector is one which Russell is extremely passionate about. His knowledge of the priorities needed for nonprofit sector executives and organizations is immense. Russell has received numerous honors including being named one of AOL's 24 Amazing Dads of 2010 and CNN News Hero in 2008. Russell is married to Mary Weatherford Jackson and has two children.
