Mission Statement

The Alabama Birth Coalition seeks to:
• Unite citizens statewide to participate in midwifery advocacy on a state and national level
• Increase access to the Midwives Model of Care for all childbearing women in Alabama
• Provide education to the public to assist women in making fully informed choices among a freely available range of attendants, methods and settings in childbirth
• Advocate for high quality maternity care for all women regardless of income, education and ethnicity
• Foster communication between midwives and other health care professionals
• Advocate for the right of parents to make health care decisions for themselves and for their children
