Nonprofit Board Marketplace

The Nonprofit Board Marketplace (NBM) is a statewide initiative that educates prospective board-level volunteers and helps strategically match them with a nonprofit organization. While nonprofit management research documents that securing and maintaining adequate financial resources is the number one challenge for nonprofits; identifying, recruiting, and training committed individuals to serve on boards is a close second. Most communities have civic, professional, and leadership programs that are rich sources of potential board members. Historically, however, these groups have not proactively shared the considerable skills and experience of their members with local nonprofit organizations. At the same time, most nonprofit agencies have not developed a good plan for strategically selecting board members. The Nonprofit Board Marketplace will provide a proactive, structured process that will empower nonprofit agencies and corporate volunteers alike.

If you are not yet approved to participate, order access to our online educational assessment below. This assessment is not intended to be a test of intellect or reasoning, but simply an educational exercise. You will be presented with a series of brief narratives, and questions related to the narratives. Read the questions carefully, and answer them based on the information in the narratives. This exercise will cover the Nonprofit Sector, Governance Issues, Resource Development and Management, and Board Development. It will also include some information about NRCA. There are a total of 60 questions, and you can complete the program over a period of time. Your responses will be saved, and you will go the next question once you log back in.

NRCA Member Organizations and prospective board-level volunteers are eligible to participate in this matching program. There is a $25 fee that covers access to the online program and all other administrative support. Once payment has been received, you will receive a link to access the online educational assessment. Once that has been completed, you will be given access to our NBM database to complete and post your profile.
